Meaningful Community

God exists in community, so why would we ever try to exist outside of it? So many times we try to face this life alone, and that’s not at all how we were created. While doing life with others can be messy, there is beauty and value in doing so. Adding this rhythm to your life will surely make a difference as you continue taking steps of faith.

The new year often brings new habits and new goals. While we agree that setting goals is important, the only way to reach a certain goal is to implement the right consistent rhythms. When we look at Scripture, we see that even Jesus had certain rhythms in His life. In this series, we will examine the core values of Impact Church and see how these values are actually habits we should all incorporate into our daily lives.

Intimate Worship

Worship is a word used often but understood little. We hear the word but don’t always understand the meaning. Here at Impact, we define worship this way: “all that we are responding to all that He is.” Because of this, worship is a lifestyle, not just a moment in time. There are many different methods all leading to the same thing: honoring God with extreme love and extravagant submission.

Jesus Had Rhythms

When we study the life of Jesus, there is so much we can learn. One of the fascinating things is to see how He had certain rhythms just like everyone else. What set Him apart, besides being JESUS, is that His rhythms kept Him in step with the will of God. Jesus prayed often, he rested when He could, and He set boundaries in His ministry and His person life. When considering rhythms for our own lives, there is no better place to start than with the Savior of the world.

Don’t Settle

There are times in life where we stand at a crossroads. We ultimately have to decide where we will go next. Unfortunately, so often we decide to camp out exactly where we are – in the land of comfort. God has promised us so much as His children, but we will never be all He has called us to be until we step out of comfort and fully engage in His mission

What’s Your Response?

Everyone has a response to the birth of Jesus. When we look back at the first Christmas, we can even see it then. Herod responded with anger, the scribes responded with knowledge , and the wise men responded with worship. While these responses tell us a lot, the bigger question is, “How do you respond?”

As the Christmas season rolls around, there is a lot of excitement in the air. Occasionally, though, there are those who just don’t get into the Christmas spirit. Everyone knows a Grinch or a Scrooge, right? Bah Humbug. While this is a well-known phrase, if we’re honest, we all have certain seasons in life where we just feel “bah Humbug!” As we look at the Christmas story, we will see that so many key players could have easily felt the disdain of Jesus, yet they decided to respond differently.

Qualities to Remember

While Mary gets a lot of attention during the Christmas season, this week we look at Joseph and all the things he had to say. Wait, Scripture records no words at all from Joseph! Even still, there is so much to learn from the way he responds to what had to be one of the most uncomfortable times of his life. The qualities we find in Joseph are worth looking at… and remembering.

Let It Be

As a young teenage girl set to be married to the love of her life, Mary gets a visit from an Angel that would forever change her life. Her response to the news brought by Gabriel is so important. It shows us how we can choose to focus on the presence of God even in the midst of disruptive plans.

Who God Says He Is

While there are many attributes of God, let’s take a look at who God says He is. By doing this, all of His characteristics become that more powerful. If God is who He says He is, it has to change the way we do life. And that is something we can be thankful for.

As we enter the Thanksgiving season, we will undoubtedly see social media posts about all the things people are thankful for. While there’s nothing wrong with that, wouldn’t it be great to dig deeper than most of the superficial things we see on those lists? Let’s learn to be thankful for who God says we are, who God says He is, and the fact that we get to do life in a local family of Believers – the church.

Who God Says We Are

Most of us identify ourselves by what we do. The problem with that is we can never do enough. God says something different about those who belong to Him. And when God says it, it is truth! No matter what we’ve done, what we think, or what other people may say, we are valuable as sons and daughters of God. And we exist to glorify Him by proclaiming His excellencies.

Finding Rest When It’s Hard

We all want rest, but things happen. If we are honest, sometimes it is just too hard… or so we think. How do we really run toward Jesus and get that rest for our souls when it seems almost impossible?

Life is so full. Sometimes it is full of good things, while other times it is full of bad things. Either way, it seems to ALWAYS be full. We spend so much time doing so many different things, we too often find ourselves trapped in the busyness of life. This isn’t a new concept, but it is one that we must address! Until we can find some rest, we will never live out the purpose God has for us. Easier said than done, right? Throughout this series, we will look at practical ways we can move from the busyness of life to the business of the Savior. We will learn how to WIN in life.
