Often when we read scripture, we relate ourselves to the people we read about. Sure, we can learn great lessons when we do that. We can discover great disciplines that draw us closer to God. But when Daniel faces a den of hungry lions, the story begins to sound very familiar. And if we dig just a little deeper, we’re reminded that it’s all about Jesus. It always has been and it always will be.
There are warning signs in our life but we often ignore them. Why? Because we don’t believe the danger is that bad. The truth is, it will kill you. It’s time to turn away from the destruction and live differently.
Chasing after the things of this world will always lead to destruction. It will literally drive you insane. As we dive into Daniel 4, we’ll discover mindsets that lead to insanity and some practical things we can do to reclaim our sanity.
Where am I bowing to pressure? This simple question is one that every person can and should ask themselves. Pressure comes at us from all sides and how we respond to it is what truly matters. As believers, we need to face the challenges before us with the faith of Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego as they were facing the fiery furnace.
When culture shifts, what will you do? Will you shift with it, or will you stand firm on the truth of God’s Word and His sovereignty? Will you change the world, or will the world change you?
